MUSIC HEALS PROGRAMS

A portion of funds raised by SKOOKUM will be directed towards the following Music Heals Programs:

The Harmony & Healing Music Therapy Program
Delivered in partnership with Vancouver Native Health Society, this program will be delivered at Sheway, a facility located in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, and offered to approximately 200 pregnant and parenting women who are marginalized from services due to drug and alcohol issues.

Beyond One Voice: Building Compassionate Community Through Dialogue and Song
This project will work to break the cultural silence around the taboo topics of grief and loss and be part of an ongoing process of cultural reconciliation. By creating opportunities for open and authentic dialogue & creative expression through group music (singing) the proposed project will work towards building an experience of Compassionate Community that will help participants to learn from one another and to stand together against the isolating impact of serious illness, grief & loss.
