When are you looking for volunteer support?
We will have a limited number of setup shifts in the days leading up to the event as
well as the Monday after, however, the vast majority of our needs fall over the festival,
What is required to volunteer?
Volunteers are asked to work a minimum 15 hours over the festival, with at least one
shift in the evening, and pay a refundable deposit of $75. Attendance at one of the
orientation and preparation sessions we will be hosting onsite is also required. These

What do I get for volunteering?
In addition to the reward of being part of something special and new, meeting new
people, and making new friends, you will also receive a SKOOKUM volunteer crew t-shirt,
a boxed meal for any shift over 5 hours, and the opportunity to enjoy the festival
while not on duty.
How does the refundable deposit work?
We will process a $75 charge before the event. Once you have shown up on time for
all shifts fulfilled your volunteer duties and abided by festival rules and regulations,
your deposit will be refunded shortly after the festival.
How long are shifts?
Most are around 4.5 hours although some might be longer.
How does scheduling work?
All volunteers will be able to self-schedule, choosing your own shifts and assignments
based on skillset and availability.
What if there’s a band I have to see?
We totally get it, but this means that volunteering is probably not for you. Although
volunteers will get to see some music, we can’t guarantee that it will be your band of
choice. If you can’t miss out, opt out.
Will we have access to food?
Culinary excellence is a key component of SKOOKUM. You will find remarkable
culinary dishes from some of Vancouver’s most notable chefs and restaurateurs with
premium BC wines, local craft distilleries, and breweries. We highly recommend checking
out our vendors and purchasing some tasty bites before or after your shift, keeping the
enjoyment of adult beverages to post-shift of course.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes, volunteers must be 18 or older as of September 1, 2018.
Can I volunteer with my friends?
Absolutely! We encourage you to sign up with friends or family so you can share the
experience and enjoy the festival in your off time together. Due to self-scheduling, we
can’t guarantee that you will both be in the same assignment at the same time but if
you sign up for your shifts together this should be pretty easy to accomplish. We’ll help
wherever we can – because friends are awesome.
Is parking included?
No, however, the site is close to major transportation links like the SeaBus and
Skytrain and various Bus routes, and you can walk or bike via West Georgia Street.
Check out the Getting Here section of the website for details.
When does the application close?
We will continue to accept applications until our needs are met.
